Matt Stewart

CEO and Energy Auditor

As Founder and CEO of AHEC and AEC, Matt has more than 30 years of experience in the building and engineering fields. Matt earned a master’s degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering from University of Maryland. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Maryland, as well as bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics and Physics (Honors Program) from University of Delaware. Matt is a 2014 Smith MBA Merit Scholar at University of Maryland. In addition, he is an Association of Energy Engineers and Building Performance Institute (BPI) Certified Energy Auditor; Certified Energy Manager; Business Energy Professional; and Building Analyst, Building Envelope, Multi-family Building and Measurement and Verification Professional. He also completed International Energy Conservation Code training in 2012. Matt’s past experience includes nine years as founder and CEO of Quality Home Builders and Associates. In this capacity, Matt managed hundreds of projects from the concept stages throughout permitting, including those requiring planning reviews at the county level. Matt has in-depth knowledge of building codes at every stage of construction – from foundation, drywall, insulation, and roofing to windows and doors. As energy codes became more stringent, Matt saw an opportunity in energy savings programs. Thus AHEC and AEC were born.

Chris Brehm

Chief Operations Officer
Energy Auditor

As Chief Operations Officer, Chris fulfills many roles, including Material and Labor Project Management as well as Commercial and Industrial Energy Auditing and Project Management for AEC. Chris formerly served as the Lead Coordinator for University of Delaware’s Industrial Assessment Center (IAC) and has more than 3 years of experience in energy auditing and management. He earned a Master of Energy and Environmental Policy in 2013 from University of Delaware’s Center for Energy and Environmental Policy (CEEP) through the College of Engineering. Chris received CEEP’s 2013 Award of Excellence upon graduation as well as the U.S. Department of Energy IAC Research Assistantship at University of Delaware in 2012. Chris earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with Honors, with a concentration in International Trade, from Penn State University. He taught English in Korea and Spain for 3 years while pursuing his studies.

Patty Croce

Marketing and Sales Director

Patty is the face of AEC. She has more than 25 years of experience in marketing and sales. Prior to joining us, Patty worked for several small businesses, where she contributed greatly to their success and growth. As Marketing and Sales Director of AEC, Patty uses her expansive network to promote our company’s mission. She also contributed to our earning the Cecil County Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business of the Year award for 2014. Beyond her role in marketing and sales, Patty is a skilled project manager and makes customer service her number-one priority. She is your point of contact for all your customer service and project needs. She has an extensive knowledge of AEC’s products and services to help your business save money and energy. From start to finish, Patty will keep you informed on the progress of your project. Additionally, Patty is the President of the Kiwanis Club of Elkton, an organization that supports children’s and veterans’ programs. Patty’s career with AEC feeds her passion for community service, as we have engaged in many special projects for local churches, fire stations, and nonprofit organizations.

Brigid Gregory

Marketing and Business Development Assistant

Brigid, who joined the Elkton office in 2015, is pursuing her Master of Business Administration (MBA) at University of Delaware. With a diverse skillset and background, Brigid serves AEC in a variety of roles, including marketing, RFP management, and business development. Prior to AEC, she spent a year and a half in Texas, implementing sustainability programs for Aramark as a Business Analyst and Sustainability Specialist. Brigid earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Energy Business and Finance from Penn State University. Outside of work, Brigid is a professional musician and often volunteers her time and talent at her local church. She also enjoys spending time with her family as well as hiking and exploring the Mid- Atlantic region.

Annette Brown

Administrative Assistant and Accounts Manager

When you call us, Annette is the friendly voice you hear. She has 14 years of administrative experience and holds an Office Specialist Certification from Cecil College. Annette handles our bookkeeping, can answer your billing questions, and can help you with scheduling an appointment.

Colin Winslow

Residential Energy Auditor

Working in our Elkton branch for the past 2 years, Colin is a Certified Energy Manager and Certified Energy Auditor. He has a strong background in energy-efficient construction, as well as more than 3 years of experience in roofing and commercial construction. He is also certified as a Building Professional Institute (BPI) Building Analyst and Building Envelope Professional. Upon earning his associate’s degree in Energy Management from Delaware Technical Community College, Colin received an Academic Excellence Award in the field of energy management. Colin has more than 2 years of experience using ICF Beacon Home Energy Modeling Auditing and Reporting software.

Ben Burnett

Residential Energy Auditor

Ben is a qualified Energy Auditor and is certified by the Building Performance Institute (BPI) as a Building Analyst and Building Envelope Professional. He performs residential energy audits through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® program in Maryland and Delaware. Trained to use ICF Beacon Home Energy Auditing software, Ben enjoys uncovering energy and cost savings for our customers. He holds an associate’s degree in Applied Science for Energy Management from Delaware Technical Community College. Ben has been with AHEC for 2 years and is a valued member of our team.

Tijo Joseph

Commercial Energy Auditor

Tijo is a Certified Energy Manager with more than 5 years of experience in energy management, carbon assessment, and facility management. Having completed his schooling in Dubai, Tijo is a mechanical engineer with a master’s degree in Energy Management from Heriot-Watt University. He previously served as an energy consultant in Dubai with the company that maintains the Burj Khalifa. He is experienced in conducting ASHRAE Levels 1 and 2 energy audits for commercial, residential, and industrial facilities with a focus on HVAC, lighting, and MEP systems. Tijo was actively involved in designing and operating a benchmarking tool which compared the energy and water consumption of office, residential, and hotel facilities among peers, as a precursor to conducting elaborate energy analyses. He has also worked as a qualified Sustainability Auditor for the hospitality sector through Green Globe certification. In addition, Tijo undertook several projects in calculating the carbon footprint of offices, businesses, events, and activities. He has also worked toward compensation of carbon emissions through carbon-offsetting mechanisms. Furthermore, Tijo has conducted sustainability
training sessions for various sectors and audiences ranging from students, teachers, and line employees to managers and stakeholders.

Matt Wisniewski

Commercial Energy Auditor

Matt is an experienced Energy Manager and Auditor, working at both our College Park and Elkton branches. Performing audits for our commercial and residential customers, Matt has a Building Analyst certification from the Building Professional Institute (BPI) and an Energy Auditor certification from the Association of Energy Engineers. In addition, Matt completed International Energy Conservation Code training in 2012. He earned an associate’s degree in Energy Management from Delaware Technical Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Wilmington University.

Ning Yang

Commercial Energy Auditor

Ning Yang is an Energy Auditor at American Energy Corporation with responsibility for commercial energy saving projects. She received Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) in Aug 2014. She has over 1 year experience in the energy audit area, including ASHRAE level 2 audit, and building energy simulation. Ning earned her Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland. She is familiar with AutoCAD, eQuest, EnergyPlus, Openstudio, Sketchup, and Parametric Analysis Tool.

Gail Yborra

Commercial Energy Auditor

Hailing from Wilmington, Delaware, Gail worked several years in the insurance industry prior to going back to school to pursue an education in sustainability. Her Associates Degrees from Delaware Technical Community College include Architectural Engineering, Energy Management, and Renewable Solar Energy. She looks forward to assisting clients with their reduction of energy usage and related costs while also reducing their carbon footprint. Gail’s personal interests include spending time with friends, puzzles, readings, watching movies, traveling and the Brandywine Valley attractions.
